Kim Harty
is a Detroit-based multidisciplinary artist and scholar. Rooted in her training as a glassblower, her practice utilizes feminist and queer approaches to embodiment to challenge traditional hierarchies of making. She is interested in how material knowledge is tracked, performed, and performed upon, creating works that range from sculptural installations to digital image-based research. Currently Harty serves as Section Lead and Associate Professor of Glass at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, and she maintains an active international exhibition and curatorial practice.
